THE ARCHITECT
When it came to life, Carmen thought she had won the lottery: she had an amazing boyfriend that everyone loved, best friends she would die for, and a deejay job that paid the bills. Her life was perfect—until one night at two in the morning, when an angel named Phae woke her up with some shocking news. Carmen, now aware that she is actually The Architect, commonly referred to as God, was faced with the enormous task of saving a planet heading towards extinction.
Carmen learns the hard way that getting humans on board with her mission isn’t as easy as she thought. She must learn how to relate to humans and how to gain their trust, even if that means hiring a publicist, posting on social media, and faking her love of humanity to do it.
What Carmen learns about herself in the process might just be the most surprising part. Something about living a life as a queer Latina woman named Carmen on Planet Earth, as part of The Architect’s Test Drive program, had changed who Carmen was at her core. She was becoming more human the longer she spent on Earth. What did that mean for the design, for the universe, for herself?
What would happen if God really was one of us?
Can Carmen save the world?
Will humans ever believe in her?
